PDCC 3rd Anniversary Post

Hi Everyone! It's time for another Play Date Cafe Challenge, but this one marks the third anniversary of the challenge site. Wow, three years really amazing! To mark the occasion, each day there will be special posts over the next five days and random giveaways at The Play Date Cafe site, the Facebook page, and on Twitter (@ThePDCC). Be sure to join in on the fun!

This week's colors are Flame, Mulberry, and Grape:

For these colors, I got out my My Favorite Things Airplane die to make this card:

I die cut the airplane using blue metallic cardstock and red felt. I like how the felt adds a lot of texture and contrast. For the tail, I die cut a star and circle.

The sentiment banner is also part of the airplane die. Even though the background white is actually a different color and texture (you can see it in person), I didn't think there was enough contrast with the banner. I added the purple, but I don't really like it...hmmm. At least I stuck to the PDCC colors. ;)

I finished it off with one a sentiment from the SSS On Edge set. Here's a close-up of the plane:

Like the colors? Want to play? There will be multiple prizes available from multiple sponsors and you can find out the detail at The Cafe site. Also, the PDCC website has a new look (I can't wait to see it!). Be sure to check it out. There will be inspiration each day from alumni designers in addition to the random prizes (I've seen a peek, and they are GREAT projects). :)

Lastly, we have a new "I Play @ PDCC" badge here:

You can place the badge on your blog and link it to The Cafe. Julie Ranae will be randomly visiting blogs throughout the five days and will have prizes to give away to a few if she finds the badge. Sounds great, right?

On a personal note, be sure to stop back on Saturday. I'll be GDT'ing at The Cameo Spotlight, and I'm looking forward to sharing my project. :)

  7. Oh man. Saw your card at PDC and wondered -"OK, how'd she get that gradient effect?" so had to come check it out. Who else would think of combining metallic CS and felt? You're so darn clever! And I think the purple under the sentiment is OK. Red would have been too predictable.
