Pink Goodness

My best friend's daughter, Maddy, is turning 6 in a few weeks, and I need to send her a card. She loves pink, and so I thought I'd make her a pink card. It just so happens that the create blog is having a 100% pink card challenge, and I thought "no problem." Well, two cards and a few hours later, I realized that making a card only in one color with the supplies I had at hand was not as easy as I thought. Anyhoo, I think I finally made a crazy pink card for Maddy:

Yes, it's PINK! Just to point a few details, I started by stamping the background with Mint Motif's Beyond Borders using VersaMark (and got them straight--yeah!!). Then I stamped the cupcake on a pale pink cardstock (it looks almost white, but it is pink) and on the felt. And btw, stamping with pink ink onto pink felt doesn't leave a dark impression (LOL!). The pink "sprinkles" are Jolee's crystals. Finally, the sentiment is a little hard to see in the photo, but I actually stamped the sentiment twice--once in a pale pink and next to it in a hot pink to create a shadow (yes, I know it's hard to see).

I thought I'd share the first card I made. I liked this card...much softer look...but I decided it wasn't quite right for Maddy:

Isn't that little birdie cute? He's from PTI's Little Bitty Bird die. Again, I stamped the background with Mint Motif's Beyond Borders. For the window, I attached a textured cardstock circle in the background color--it looks like woodgrain to me. After assembling everything, I tied a pink silk bow...I can't help it, but I keep touching the soft ribbon (hope I don't get it grimy!).

Thanks so much for looking!

  1. Jocelyn,
    These are "pinkilicious"! LOL!

  2. These cards are great, I love the bold bright look of the first one especially!

  3. Okay, I was totally going to say these are pinkilicious but Brandi beat me to it! LOL! They are both fabulous. Love the shadow effect on the sentiment of the first card and the felt icing - I never remember to pull out my felt! And the Bitty Bird is one of my favourite stamp/dies - love his "beady" little eye! :)

  4. The PINK is really pretty... Both cards are pretty... 1st ones really POPS... nice one Jocelyn... TFS hugs...xoxo

  5. Maddy is a girl after my own heart! You did FAB on both cards! You rocked this challenge girl!!! I could not pick a fav if I had too.

  6. Jocelyn, I love the boldness of the top card and the sweetness of the second! I love that you incorporated felt and beads into both. I need to get out my beads and so something with them. Thanks for the inspiration!

  7. It's probably one of the 'pinkest' posts I've ever seen!! Any 6 year old girl is going to spin over either of these fabulous HOT Pink cards! I'm super impressed with those straight stamped lines... I would've been very stressed trying to acheive that...

  8. Using one color is extremely difficult but you pulled it off nicely. If Maddy likes pink, she'll love the card.

  9. Wow! Seems like such a challenge - one color. I've never tried it. You did amazing!! I love the cupcake - SO FUN & I'm sure Maddy will too!! I love the other card too. Would be great for a girlfriend!!
