Head and Shoulders Above the Rest

I'm playing along with the Online Summer Card Camp color challenge. I went with a graphic approach using some of Ali Edwards's digital words:

I recolored, resized, and cropped the words in Photoshop. I went back and forth about embellishing the card and even got as far as making a bow-tie bow for the top, but I decided I thought the words could stand alone. Agree, disagree? Here's the other version:

If, for some strange reason, you are a major Brady Bunch aficionado, you may remember Peter asking Greg for synonyms for the word "best at his job." [The episode where Peter is a reporter and gets a bad grade in Science.} Greg gives a few suggestions and finally comes up with "head and shoulders above the rest." When I look at the card, it reminds me of that episode. Now I'm going to be humming the Brady Bunch song all day.

Thanks for looking! Have a great day, friends!

This is a great card, but I agree with you that the one without the bow is best! Must look for these digital words (although the US spelling is different in the word marvellous to the UK)

Fantastic 'Brady-esque' design! Love your colour palette & funky bow! You are on a roll!

This is a fun card! I like the top one the best as the words stand out more and make a bigger impact, the bow kind of overshadows everything a bit. My opinion only though!

I actually really like them both. Just the addition of the bow makes it a completely different card.

Taking from one of your words, this is fabulous and I love the font! I have to say I LIKE the bow best, but it's a winner either way!

This is so clever! I love the "bowless" version--the words have a greater impact. Congrats on the student spotlight!

The card is awesome! I like the focus on the bold words, without the bow. I know that DH would love it, too. Hmm. I haven't made him a card in a while...

This is such a great card! For CAS me, I like the bowless one just a little bit more. But anyone would be thrilled to receive it either way!

This is so much fun - and really eyecatching in the gallery!! I had to laugh about your Brady bunch story :0) Congratulations on your SCC spotlight this week! (I think I *may* prefer the bowless one ... not sure ... :0)

...and now I'm humming the Brady Bunch song too. Drats. Thanks a lot ;P
I love the bow (it's perfectly tied - jealous!) but I think you're right, the words alone are perfect. Love the way the border picks up the same colours.
