Believe

Happy Friday!

Remember learning in school about how people used to post quarantine symbols on their houses so people wouldn't come near? Yeah, that's what we needed on our house recently. My daughter and I traded a stomach bug back and forth for about 8 days. We're both almost back to normal, and luckily, my son and husband seem to be okay. Whew!

Anyhoo, I wanted to make a project to join in with Unity's Friends with Flair since I've missed the past few weeks. I used the Play Date Cafe colors (PDCC 106--pink, grey, yellow) to come up with this card:

Love the sentiment! It's from Unity's "She" set...love that set, although I don't know if it's still available. The ink drops are October Afternoon Sprinklers (the Sidewalks collection) as is the patterned paper.

While I was making this card I realized I need a good grey ink. I have Memento's London Fog (although I used a marker for this card), but it's very bluish. Does anyone know of a more neutral grey?

Some good news: Last weekend, I managed to finish up a few Paper Crafts submissions while having an oogie stomach--yuck. I didn't get most of my projects completed, but I did get one project accepted. Wa-hoo!  Also, my daughter's art project is being displayed at the community's fine arts center and they have a reception tomorrow (she was 1 of 3 for kindergarten). She's pretty "meh" about it...I think she'd be more excited if it were a Math Bowl or a Barbie reception. LOL!

Have a wonderful weekend!

  4. Whoop whoop on your pub acceptance! You're so awesome that even the plague can't stop you! :) Glad you're feeling better and I love the card - this sentiment deserves centre stage!

  5. Congratulations on your publication! This card is so very beautiful! I'm with you on the London Fog being blue, it was a disappointment for me. I have Stampin' Up!s Basic Grey but it is rather dark, and well, you can't really use it with copics. I've also used Colorbox's gray chalk ink, that is a bit dark, but drys lighter than the SU brand.

  10. Boo for stomach bugs - hard to look on the bright side of THAT, but at least not everyone got sick? And 8 days of someone barfing...not a mom's dream come true. Especially when the mom is sick, right? Gross, ick, yuck.

Huge congrats on the publication - even while feeling icky! There's dedication! and congrats to your daughter even if she's not excited. Still very cool :)

I only *just* got London Fog, and it's not quite that pure grey, so I'll be curious to see if you do end up finding one...looks like so far it's something lots of us are looking for.

I love how the sentiment takes centre stage on your card - and I love that unexpected perfect pop of yellow :)

  13. Gorgeous card! Absolutely love it! The little splatters are perfect. Congrats again on the pub! How fun for your daughter!

As for the grey - I only have the Memento too. I think Stampin' Up has a great but haven't used it.

Glad to hear you are feeling better.

  14. Beautiful ink splots. Love how they accent the quote perfectly.

I use Colorbox Chalk ink in charcoal a lot. It is a nice dark grey. It is hard to find a nice pigment grey. I think I have a colorbox one I haven't tried yet.

  16. Sounds like we are all looking for that 'elusive grey'. I've tried Colorbox Grey Whale (too light), Charcoal (too dark, but better) but mostly use London Fog... please help!
Now, the card... LOVE those those ink drops and isn't the Sidewalks PP to die for! It's fantabulous Jocelyn, and BTW congrats on the publication!!

This card is beautiful--I love those colors (and your card looks great against that bold yellow gingham!). CONGRATS on getting a submission accepted for the May/June PC!! (I didn't fare as well) And in the middle of stomach bug week? Wow, that is awesome!! Go, Jocelyn!! :D

  28. Congrats on your publication! I love your card, the sentiment is fab and so is the splatter. I only have Memento too, but like you agree it's a bit disappointing where it's a bluer hue. One that isn't too bad is one by Colorbox, it's a chalk one though, not sure if that's any help?
