Let's Go Mini Album

Hi everyone!

I'm sharing a hybrid mini album on the Glitz blog today. I'm also sharing how I added the sentiments onto the photos (they're journaling cards and colored sentiments altered in Photoshop).

Here's the cover:

Let's Go Mini Album

Even though summer isn't over, I wanted to make the first mini album sharing a few of our everyday activities during the summer.

Here are pictures of the inside:

Let's Go Mini Album

For the "You are here," I colored white embossing paste with three colors of stamp reinkers. When I made THIS card, I made two panels (I can never estimate how much embossing paste I'm going to use). I had the second one in my scrap pile and decided it worked with the album. Yeah for scraps! :)

Let's Go Mini Album

I used Brightside papers and a sticker. The papers on the page with my son were supposed to look like sunrays. Yeah...not so much. LOL! I love yellow, though, so I decided to leave it. For the flowers, I used a digital element from the Brightside collection, enlarged the flowers, and fussy-cut them.

Let's Go Mini Album

The sentiment on the left is a journaling card from the Carpe Diem Element Pack 2. I converted it to an overlay. I used a traditional Brightside journaling card on the right.

Let's Go Mini Album

I used a mix of Brightside and Felicity for these two pages. Since I used digital flowers (instead of a sticker), I was able to flip one and resize them.

Let's Go Mini Album

The pocket was die-cut from Brightside paper using the Paper Smooches Deco Bag, and I was able to add some journaling inside. The flower on the outside is the Paper Smooches Poinsettia die--it's a very versatile flower die!

Let's Go Mini Album

I think this photo was my favorite of the summer (so far) since it really shows my kids' personalities. The sentiment from the Glitz Felicity Element Pack was perfect.

Let's Go Mini Album

My daughter is a big reader, and I wanted to capture that. For the page on the right, I wanted to create something like my son's tie-die shirt, so I stitched through some Glitz Brightside rays.

Thanks for taking a peek at my album. If you get a chance, please check out the Glitz blog. Thanks!

Have a great day!

You Are Wonderful

Hi everyone! I hope you're having a good Monday. :)

I'm catching up with some Paper Smooches cards. These cards are made using the stamps and dies from the July release, but there also will be a small release August 1st. Be sure to check out the Paper Smooches blog later this week to see the previews.

First up, I made a very summery card:

You Are Wonderful

I used the Kudos Words dies for the sentiment...aren't those dies cool? The cute sun is from the Spectrum set. I stamped the sun and face on vellum and added in some rosy cheeks. I layered papers from a Studio Calico kit. I fussy cut the "hello sunshine" from one of the Bluegrass Farm journaling cards to complete the sentiment.

Here's a close-up:

You-Are-Wonderful-J.-Olson FCU-

Next up, I made a more fall-ish card:

I Am Grateful

I used the gorgeous Blossoming Buds set for this card. I stamped the flowers, watercolored them with Distress Inks, and then fussy cut them. Paper Smooches will be releasing matching dies for the flowers--woo hoo! I stamped the sentiments from the set and added a few flicks of spray mists.

Here's a close-up:

I Am Grateful

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great day!

Shake It Up

Hi! Anyone else remember that Cars song? I'm totally dating myself. ;)

I hope you're having a great week! I'm still catching up from my vacation, but I wanted to share a project I had on the Glitz blog last week.

Celebrate Shaker

It's a hybrid shaker card using the Glitz Brightside papers and digital Brightside Element Pack. I have a step-by-step tutorial on the Glitz blog to show a different way to make a shaker card (other than foam adhesive).

Neat & Tangled and Pinkfresh Blog Hop

Hi everyone! Happy Monday!

The Neat & Tangled and Pinkfresh Studio teams are having a collaborative blog hop today and tomorrow. If you're hopping along, you should be coming from Amanda's blog.

I received some sweet Pinkfresh Studio supplies including washi tape, stamps, and puffy stickers. Here's my project using products from Pinkfresh with Neat & Tangled stamps:

You Rock

Okay, I have to admit that I made this card about an hour after traveling for 16 hours with kids and staying up most of the night on a red-eye flight. I was a little brain-drained when I made this card, but I think the freestyle look works for a fun birthday card. ;)

I started by stenciling the stars with embossing paste and adding some splatter. Once they were dry, I used the Pinkfresh Blue and Yellow Ombre washi tape. I stamped the cake from the Neat & Tangled Gifts for You set on a piece of scrap paper and adhered it with the Light Gold washi tape.

Here's a close-up:

You Rock

See the Punchinella peeking out as a layer? I also stamped and fussy cut one of the balloons in the Gifts for You set, and stitched a line to the sentiment.

For the sentiment, I used the Sparkle and Shine set. I added the Way to Home enamel arrow at the end of the line and scattered some Neat & Tangled sequins. Here's another close-up:

You Rock

As part of the hop, there will be a $20 prize pack from Pinkfresh and a $20 prize pack from Neat & Tangled. Be sure to comment along the way to enter to win! Here's the full list of today's hop:

I made two cards using the new releases. First up, I used the Newton's Daydream set:

Wishing You

Ahhh....Newton is hanging out in Hawaii. I think he likes the beach and the sun. I stamped Newton and the butterflies, and I watercolored the scene with Distress Markers. The sentiment is also from the Newton's Daydream set.

I added some hand-cut patterned papers from Studio Calico. Here's  close-up:

Wishing You

For my second card, I used the Beach Party set:

Life's a Beach

Winston looks ready for the beach! I stamped and watercolored him, and popped him up on a tag. The sentiment is also from Beach Party. For the background, I repeatedly stamped the flower from the set...it's not perfect, but I think it works for the beach. ;)

Happy Birthday (and a Cool New Product!)

Hi everyone! Aloha from Hawaii!

It's the last day of the Neat & Tangled release week. All of the sets are available now in the Neat & Tangled store! Today, we're sharing projects using the new Punchinella stamp set and the new punchinella. I've got to say, this product is so cool--I can't wait to get more! You can see the images on the Neat & Tangled blog.

Here's my project:

Punchinella Happy Birthday

I photographed my cards on vacation. ;)

I cut up small squares and stamped on some with the Punchinella stamp. On others, I used the punchinella as a mask and blended over it with Distress Inks. Above the squares, I stamped a sentiment from the new Gifts for You set.

Here's a close-up:

Punchinella Happy Birthday

I finished the card with a couple of the new Pink Lemonade sequins and some of the punchinella. After I used it as a mask, I wiped it off and cut it at an angle. I love how it adds something to the card without adding a lot of weight.

Here's a close-up:

Punchinella Happy Birthday

If you would like a chance to win the Punchinella stamp, please hop over to the Neat & Tangled blog and leave a comment.

A Long Time Ago in a Galaxy Far, Far Away...

Hi everyone!

It's day three of Neat & Tangled's release week. Today, we're sharing projects using the Time Warp and A Long Time Ago sets, designed by (my dear friend) Miriam Prantner. This set is  must-have for Star Wars fans, but it's great even if you haven't seen the movies before. You can see the pictures on the Neat & Tangled blog.

I decided to not go with a space background and instead went retro:

A-Long-Time-Ago-J.-Olson-F1s

I stamped the Time Warp first in yellow and the sentiments from A Long Time Ago over it. There are some hilarious sentiment pairings in this set....I went with the snarky birthday sentiment. ;)

I layered some of the Me-Ology papers from Fancy Pants. The retro girl image is from the Me-Ology Ephemera. Here's a close-up:

You Were Born

Smooth Sailing

Hi everyone! I hope you're having a great week! I had my first piece of Lilikoi cheese pie today. Yum. :)

It's release week at Neat & Tangled. Yeah! Today, we're sharing projects with the very sweet Sailmates set. Want to see?

I knew I had to use the boat (love!):

Smooth Sailing

I paper pieced the Sailmates boat using Ocean Melody paper, and I partially covered it with vellum from the same collection. Originally, I was going to leave the vellum, but it didn't feel like enough (ever feel that way?). I die-cut the swoop, which reminded me a little of a porthole, and stamped the sweet sentiment from the Sailmates set.

Here's a close-up:

Neat & Tangled Release: Gifts for You

Hi everyone! I hope you had a great weekend! I spent most of the weekend on the beach. :)

It's release week at Neat & Tangled! To kick things off, we're sharing projects using the Gifts for You stamp set. This set, designed by (the super-talented) Pamela Ho, is super cute and very versatile:

Here's how I used the set:

Thank You Tags

Isn't she adorable? I was thinking this set would work perfectly as a tag on a party favor. I stamped the tag, hearts, and sentiment for each tag on patterned paper. For the girl, I stamped, colored her with Copics, and fussy cut her.

I die-cut a party favor box and attached the tag:

Thank You Tags

These tags were so easy to mass-produce for a party thank you. I think I'll be using these for my daughter's next birthday. :)

Flamingos + A Video!

Hi! I hope you're having a great week. I accidentally published my Glitz post...whoops! I've revised it below.

I was on the Glitz blog last week sharing a video with how I turned a patterned paper from the new Felicity collection into a die-cutting file. [You can watch the video in YouTube to see it in high definition.]

To make my first card, I backed the flamingos die-cut with one of the 6x6 Felicity papers:

Glitz Flamingos

Next, I opened the sweet "I love you" sentiment in Photoshop. I reduced the size and added the heart on the bottom. The sentiment is also a sticker, but I wanted a slightly smaller element to show off some of the layers:

I Love You A Lot.

Here's a close-up to see the layers of Felicity papers:

I Love You A Lot.

For my second card, I used the single die-cut flamingo:

Beautiful

I used papers and stickers from Felicity. Isn't the flower pretty?

Beautiful

There is a sticker that has "Beautiful" on it, but I used a digital element to create a longer banner. I die-cut the flower using Paper Smooches Pocket dies

Beautiful

A Die-Cutting Bonanza

Hi! I hope you're having a great weekend, and if you're in the U.S., a great Fourth of July. We went over to a friend's house in the country for a cook out, go-kart rides, and fireworks. It was great, well, until my little guy burned his hand when he grabbed the tailpipe of the go-kart. Ouch! He's okay now.

I'm on the Scraptastic Club blog today sharing a couple of cards using the gorgeous Either Way Kit and Add-On. These kits have great embellishments, and I wanted to combine them with die-cuts.

Layered Embellishments

First, I die-cut several of the papers from the kits. I tried to keep it to just a few colors--coral, aqua, pink, and gold. I used Paper Smooches' HeartsCardbookingStars, and Pinked Circles, and MFT's Circle STAX.

Next, I went to work layering the different shapes and several of the embellishments from the kits. I decided to go with a simple grid for the card:

Layered Hello

Here's a close-up:

Layered Hello

For the sentiment, I used the Either Way Stamp Set. I flipped over one of the circle stamps and stamped with the backside in a pink. I stamped over that with the "hello" sentiment:

Layered Hello

I had quite a few leftover shapes, so I made another card using the same die-cuts, but other kit embellishments:

Best Days

I used the Either Way Cut Aparts for the sentiment. Here's a close-up:

Best Days
