Pretty Pink Posh Watercolor Blog Hop

Hi everyone! Is it Thursday already? Yikes--the weeks are flying by!


Today I'm participating in the Pretty Pink Posh Watercolor Blog Hop. Yeah! Paulina's hops are awesome--great themes, lots of gorgeous cards, tons of prizes. :) The theme this time is watercoloring. Easy, right? The hop will be officially starting tomorrow (Friday) morning at 6am PST.

To kick things off, I'm sharing a watercolored card:

Sending Happiness

I started by die-cutting the Pretty Pink Posh Stitched Duo Die 2 frame out of smooth bristol. Love that die! It's great for so many projects. Next, I die-cut the Flowers and Leaves using my Cameo. The black die-cut is a little atypical me, but I wanted something bold and, well, different. :)

Sending Happiness

I lightly traced the outline of the die-cut on the Stitched Duo Die frame so I knew which colors to use. For the watercoloring, I used several spray mists and intentionally went way over my sketched borders for an artsy look.

The sentiment is from the Sending and Wishing set from SSS. I also added a few of the new Pretty Pink Posh iridescent sequins (Strawberry Burst and Sunshine Glow).

For the background, I embossed the cardstock using the stitched circles from the Stitched Duo Die 2. Here's a close-up:

    I love the loose "artsy" look but often seem to not like my results. I will try this technique with the bold black to see if I can get the artsy but contained look I want. Thanks.

    I LOVE the look of the black die cut! It is such a dramatic contrast to the watercoloured blooms, and ties the sentiment in, too. I also like the graphic embossing on the card base. All kinds of gorgeous going on here!
