Happy Friday! I had a little bit of time today to make a card for Unity's Friends with Flair, but I had a major creative block. I had a concept, but it took me four tries to get the stamping right. Ugh. Then, I went to add some ink around the edges. If you've seen my cards, you know that is not something I do often--I ended up grossly over-inking the card. Double ugh. I thought about throwing away the card at that point, but decided to try misting the card. It looked like a wet, old newspaper, so I threw it away.
A few hours later, I went to try and make a new card, but it occurred to me that I should look at the old card to see what it looked like dry. Now I rarely go fishing through garbage cans, but in this case, the card was right on top and therefore not too gross. And, much to my surprise, it looked okay (at least salvageable). I stamped the sentiment, mounted it onto another die cut to flatten it out, added some pattern paper and twine, and voila, my FWF card:
Way different than my normal happy and colorful cards, but it's a sympathy card for my dad, so hot pink wasn't going to cut it. I used Unity's With Sympathy store kit...love that set. The background paper is from the MME Stella and Rose line.
Thanks for looking! I so appreciate your views and comments...it means so much to me that you take time to look. Have a great weekend!

Hi Jocelyn! The card turned out really well!! I get what you mean about days like so when things don't go the way we planned. But, there are always small miracles. Love the card!!
Well, after all of that, it looks great! LOL! Very pretty!
Well, WAY better than salvageable! This is very soft and subtle. Great for a sympathy card!!
Glad you saved it from the dump because it is a wonderful masculine sympathy card.

Not just salvageable... It turned out really well!
The shading and layered stamping looks fantastic! You must be careful that you don't throw something like this out again!
Sooo happy this card was saved from the garbage and given a chance to redeem itself... It's pretty dapper looking now! Great going... *smile*
I am so pleased you rescued this one and shared. I find sometimes its good to walk away and come back for a second look, as your perspective/thoughts can change. This really is beautiful.
Love this card, good thing you rescued it from the garbage
Way to go, Jocelyn! This definitely is not trash-worthy -- in fact, it's just perfect for the occasion.
Great card I love your diecut too!
I'm glad to know that I'm not the only person who goes through the trash sometimes. Jeesh. Nice card!!
Lovely card.
Beautiful card, love the birds floating away, and the twine/natural fiber really ties it together.
Oops, that was the wrong account... :)
This is so pretty!
So glad you fished this out of the trash can. It would have been a shame to throw such a great card away.

Jocelyn, I'm glad you fished this out of the garbage (you mean recycling, right?) because it's gorgeous! That is one Unity set I don't have but I want. I love what you did with it and the colours are amazing.
Jocelyn, you're funny. LOL. It's a beautiful card, can't believe you tossed it, but totally see why you fished it out.
Thank you for the kind words and thoughts.... ;)
Pretty amazing that if you hadn't mentioned the whole messing up of the card and going into the garbage, I don't think any of us would have known! It's beautiful!
And to think that you almost got rid of this beauty! *smile* I have learned to just put something aside and don't look at it till another day...sometimes it's worth it and sometimes not. So glad you saved this one...even though I don't like making this kind of card..it will bring comfort to the recipient!
glad you saved it, it turned out wonderfully.
Reducing the world's trash one card at a time! Glad you gave it a second chance as it's gorgeous and has the perfect feel for a sympathy card.
Will drop you an e-mail later today!

Jocelyn, I am glad you fished it out of garbage can. It is a great card. Love the stamping on this one.
Sometimes you just have to walk away from it! I love how this turned out. Inking the edges is still super-tricky for me, and I almost always dislike how it turns out.
