Season's Givings Blog Hop

Hi everyone, and happy 2015! Welcome to the Season's Givings Blog Hop!

Latisha Yoast came up with a great idea to share our new/unused crafty supplies--to have a blog hop and give the supplies away to people hopping. I love this idea!

I'm so thankful for the blogging community. I know everyone is busy, and it means a lot to me that people take the time to stop by. I wanted to do the giveaways as a thank you!

Here is a card I made for the new year:

Celebrate

This month, Winnie & Walter is celebrating their first anniversary, and they're hosting a month-long birthday bash. Part of the celebration includes several challenges (they'll go live at 7am CT 1/1). I'm joining in the fun and playing along with Laura's challenge. If you get a chance, check them out (the prizes are huge!).

For my card, I used The Big, the Bold, and the Extras stamp set and matching cut files from Winnie & Walter.  I did some two- and three-step stamping for the flowers and layered them over some Maggie Holmes vellum flowers. The leaves were die-cut using the cutting files. I was very inspired by THIS gorgeous card.

Here's a close-up:

Celebrate

I'm also linking this card up to the Simon Says Stamp Anything Goes challenge. There's still time to link up.

I've been fortunate enough to receive or win some extra supplies, and I'm thrilled to be passing them on! I have two giveaways for two winners. If you enter once, you're entered into both:

[Click on picture to enlarge.] Giveaway 1: Mama Elephant, Avery Elle, and Imaginisce stamps; Crate Paper embossing folder, 6x6 pad, two sets of stickers from the same collection; Pink Paislee washi; Studio Calico sequins; ColorBox Cat's Eye.

[Click on picture to enlarge.] Giveaway 2: Fancy Pants 12x12 papers, stickers, die-cuts, felt flowers, buttons, and clips; KI Memories stamps; Glitz Design washi; Studio Calico ink pad.

Here's the scoop: 1) You can leave a comment for a chance to win. 2) For a second chance, you can "follow" my blog and leave another comment to let me know if you already follow or are a new follower. You can follow my blog by clicking Google's "Join this Site" on the sidebar and/or following by e-mail.

The giveaway will end at 6am ET on 1/7, and I'll announce winners here. Also, I'm happy to pay for international shipping.

Our Home to Yours

Hi everyone!

I'm up on Neat & Tangled blog today sharing a card and quick tutorial.

Here's the final card:

Our Home to Yours

I used three different Neat & Tangled sets to make this card: Simple Christmas, So Very Blessed, and Time Warp. There are step-by-step pictures on the Neat & Tangled blog that show how I combined the different sets.

After I was done stamping, I dry embossed the panel with a PTI Woodgrain plate--I love the subtle texture. I finished the card by adding glitter to a BasicGrey die-cut, a sequin from the Classic Christmas Sequin Mix, and some spray mists.

Here's a close-up:

Our Home to Yours

If you want to play along, the Little Tangles team has an embossing challenge right now. You can check it out HERE.

Sadly, this post is my last one for Neat & Tangled. I wanted to give a shout-out to Danielle for being an awesome leader. Thanks for asking me to be on the team, Danielle! *hugs* Also, thank you to my fantastic and supportive teammates! You all are a super talented bunch!!

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great day!

Warm Winter Wishes

**Hi everyone! If you're looking for my Paper Crafts & Scrapbooking Special Thanks blog hop post, please click HERE.

Wow, it's December--I can't believe it! It's been cold in South Dakota, which inspired today's card. :)

I'm guesting for the Little Tangles Team today for their new challenge--embossing! You can check out the details of the challenge on the Little Tangles blog.

Here's my card:

Warm Winter Wishes

I started this card by heat embossing two trees from the Neat & Tangled Winter Wishes set. I then repeated the stamping/embossing about 20 times to create a background. I was inspired by one of Laura Bassen's cards, and I did some gradual blending with Distress Inks. I added some splatter with a Pearl mist to give the background some shimmer.

Here's a picture of the background:

Warm Winter Wishes

On top, I die-cut a Simon Says Stamp Eliza snowflake and layered a sentiment from the Winter Wishes set. The card still didn't feel finished, so I threaded some Crystal Clear and Christmas Mix sequins.

Here's a close-up:

Warm Winter Wishes

I hope you'll play along over at Little Tangles with the embossing challenge! You can link up your projects HERE.

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you have a great day!

Paper Crafts & Scrapbooking Special Thanks Blog Hop

Hi everyone! I have a special (but sad) post today.

Today, 200+ people are hopping to say thanks to the staff at Paper Crafts & Scrapbooking Magazine. If you're hopping along, you should be coming from Susie's blog.

For those who don't know, Paper Crafts will have its last issue in February 2015. Since the announcement, I've thought about what to say. Ultimately, it comes down to thank you. Thank you for being such an influence on the papercrafting community. Thank you for your hard work and the love you poured into issues. Thank you for being awesome people who made people smile every day.

Kerri does awesome "What I've learned from..." posts on Paper Crafts Connections. I did a little reflecting on what I've learned from Paper Crafts & Scrapbooking over the past several years:

  1. Go for it.  'Nuff said.
  2. It's good to try new techniques. It's hard to fall into a rut when you have calls pushing you to try using hardware or string art or acrylics.
  3. What not to wear. I really should say what is "in" to wear. PC&S has always been cutting edge on spotting trends, and reading the issues/calls made me feel almost cool.
  4. Freestyle/collage is a real life style. I want to put seven unrelated embellishments on a card? That's okay!
  5. Barbie shoes don't make great stamps. Yes, I've tried that. And celery. And corn. My husband thought I was completely nuts when I told him I had to go to the grocery store for a call. Believe me, I would never have tried those techniques if it hadn't been for PC&S, but trying something new is good. :)
  6. Gallon, quart, and pint is more than just for paint. The Card Design Handbook? Life changing.
  7. It's more than a magazine. The editors and staff, the blogs, the contests, the challenges--it's such a sense of community. These folks are social media gurus!
  8. They are teachers. When I had a DT end, Susan and Jennifer took the time to give me some great advice. They taught me a lot about myself.
  9. Rocky Road is good. The PC&S editors were very supportive of different styles, different supplies, and different techniques. I dug that (like I dig Rocky Road ice cream).
  10. Crafty friends are good friends. I've met fabulous friends through PC&S, and I know I'm not the only one. :)
Thank you, Jennifer, Susan, Stacy, Kerri, Holly, Matt, Melinda, and (honorary) Cath for all that you have done.

I also wanted to share a card:

You Make Me Smile

I used the pretty new Amy Tangerine Stitched collection to make a very scrappy card. Here's a close-up:

You Make Me Smile

Lastly, I wanted to link up to the PC&S Farewell Slideshow. (Awww....)

Thanks for stopping by. Next up in the hop is Chaitali!

Here's my card using Lots of Love:

Lots of Love

The new Lots of Love set is perfect for Valentine's Day and any love card. I love the beautiful script--Kim's lettering is gorgeous!

I die-cut the heart on my Cameo, watercolored the panel with spray mists, and then stamped over it using the Lots of Love sentiment. I went a little crazy with the watercoloring, but decided to go with the artsy look. ;) The flowers are from the new Lovely Thoughts set. I embossed the flowers on vellum and then watercolored over them.

Here's a close-up:

Lots of Love

I finished the card by die-cutting a scalloped base out of the Notes and Things paper.

Let Our Lives Be Full

Hi everyone!

I'm up on the Neat & Tangled blog today with a card and step-by-step photos.

I wanted to use a Thanksgiving set in a (hopefully) non-Thanksgiving way. Here's what I ended up with:

Thanks & Giving

This card has everything but the kitchen sink--layering, die-cutting, stamping, heat embossing, splattering, watercoloring, sewing....I guess I didn't use patterned paper. Ha!

I started with watercoloring and then die-cut part of the Album Cover Lace on my Cameo. On top of that layer, I heat embossed the sentiment from Neat & Tangled's Be Full set. The embossing powder is glittery, which looks a little lumpy in photos (it's not).

Thanks & Giving

I stitched the panel onto the background to add some lift to the vellum. Here's a final picture of what the card looks like under the sentiment:

Thanks & Giving

To see the steps for making this card, I have the pictures and steps on the Neat & Tangled blog. :)

Also, Danielle is having a Black Friday sale starting at 8am ET on Thursday (11/27) and running until Sunday (11/30)!

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great day!

25 Days of Christmas Tags + A Giveaway

Hi everyone! I hope you had a great weekend! I got home at the end of the week after another week of work travel. I got home in time to see my four-year-old's preschool holiday program...it was so cute. :)

My blogging friend Tracey from In My Creative Opinion has been hosting her fourth annual 25 Days of Christmas Tags. Tracey invited the Paper Smooches team to share tags, and I'm happy to be playing along.

Here's my tag:

You Make My Heart Melt

I used Paper Smooches' new Cool Dudes set to make the snowman. I die-cut a circle and then stamped the different features and hat. It was really fun to build the different snowmen--much better than getting cold in real snow. ;)

I die-cut some Webster's Pages papers using the Paper Smooches' Gift Tags die. I can't get enough of this die--it's a must-have! Here's a few of the finished tags:

Snowmen Tags

I added the sentiment from the Warm Hearts set on a couple of the tags. Here's a close-up:

You Make My Heart Melt

As part of the 25 Days of Christmas Tags, there are lots of prizes! Be sure to check out Tracey's blog for details. To enter, comment on Tracey's blog, and for an extra chance to win, comment on my blog below. The comment-to-win ends at 11:59pm ET on 11/27.

Add a Little Dazzle and Neat & Tangled Blog Hop

Hi everyone! I hope you're having a good week. :)

This week, the Neat & Tangled DT is teaming up with the Add a Little Dazzle team. Add a Little Dazzle sells cool craft metal sheets (be sure to check it out!). Each day this week, members of the two teams are hopping. If you're hopping along, you should be coming from Yana's blog.

Here's my project:

Warm Holiday Wishes

I kept things pretty simple. As soon as I saw the Fancy Pants Oh Deer! reindeer, I knew I had to use him! I used the "warm" from the Warm Wishes stamp set and paired it with two stamps from the Simple Christmas set. For the hearts, I die-cut the A Little Dazzle Scarlet Red sheet with the Neat & Tangled My Plate is Full dies.

Don't the hearts look like Valentine's Day chocolates? It makes me kind of hungry. Ha! Here's a close-up:

Warm Holiday Wishes

Be sure to comment all along the way to be entered to win a $25 prize pack from Add a Little Dazzle and a $25 prize pack from Neat & Tangled. Next up in the hop is Lee-Anne!

Thanks for stopping by! I'll be back tomorrow with another post. :)

A Warm Welcome

The Welcome Wagon is the November TAM set, so it's *free* if you spend $60 at Paper Smooches. Score!
I couldn't believe how many different phrases I could make, and I like that they are different than other stamp sets I own.

I stamped three of the sentiments from The Welcome Wagon and added the new Welcome Word die-cut. Aren't those snowmen the cutest ever? They're from the new Cool Dudes set and matching die. I used digital patterned papers from Paislee Press for the layers. Yup, had to make it a hybrid card. ;)

Here's a close-up:

Boo Treat Tags

Hi everyone! It's the week of Halloween--yeah! Do you dress up for Halloween (if so, please share your costume)? :) I don't dress up, but my kids are going as a cat and a skunk.

I wanted to give a shout-out to some sweet friends who participated in the Getting to Know Me Blog Hop. All three linked up to me recently, and I wanted to say thanks! If you have a chance, please swing by their posts--they are incredibly talented papercrafters and truly good people, too!

Alice Wertz Her coloring skills are unbelievable, and if you haven't seen one of her stamped backgrounds, you're in for a treat! Every card is like a little masterpiece.
Lea Lawson Lea was one of my very first papercrafting idols, even before I started my own blog. :) I'm always inspired by her. She can do anything--using patterned paper, stamping, digi--she is so talented!
Lucy Abrams When I first got into digi/hybrid, I turned to Lucy's blog for her expertise--thanks, Lucy! Her cards are always perfectly stamped and perfectly executed. She has such an eye for knowing how to make a card look "full" but still keeping it CAS. She's also always been so helpful to me. :)

I already did my Getting to Know Me post HERE, but I wanted to be sure to give a shout-out to Alice, Lucy, and Lea. :)

I've been getting my kids' treat bags ready for their class parties. I'm doing a mix of designs, but I wanted to share one of the designs:

Boo Tags

I used a lot of Paper Smooches here--Ghoulfriends stamps and Ghoulfriends Icons dies for the bat, Halloween Icons for the "Boo," and Stitched Tag for the tag die. These were super simple to make!

I switched up some other Ghoulfriends images for other tags, too:

Boo Tags

I also have an extra "Thanks" die from Paper Smooches that I would like to give away as a thank you for reading!

I'll pick from the comments on Saturday (11/1).

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great day!

Very Merry

Hi everyone!

It's the final day of Release Week at Neat & Tangled! All of the sets and dies are on sale today at the Neat & Tangled store. Today, we're sharing projects using the Very Merry stamp set and Tiny Triangles die. I also have a second card featuring the Winter Trees set. Danielle is sharing pictures of the release on the Neat & Tangled blog.

Here's how I used the Very Merry stamp and Tiny Triangles die:

Very Merry

I stamped and fussy cut the large "merry" from the Very Merry stamp set. I layered the sentiment over the die-cut Tiny Triangles and a piece of red bokeh vellum from Webster's Pages, a doily, and tissue.

I added an Emerald Green sequin, a Pink Paislee star, and a little tag from Inspire Lovely. Here's a close-up:

Very Merry

Here's my second card:

Believe

I was inspired by the watercoloring on Debby's card. I stamped the Winter Trees image and used spray mists for watercoloring. The trees have so much movement!

I finished the card with a Raspberry Red sequin and a gold puffy heart. Here's a close-up:

Believe

There's a giveaway! Comment on the Neat & Tangled blog to win the Very Merry stamp set.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great day!

Warm Wishes

Hi everyone!

It's day three of Release Week at Neat & Tangled! Today, we're sharing projects using the Warm Wishes stamp set. It's a gorgeous set featuring Danielle's lettering. Danielle is sharing pictures of the stamp on the Neat & Tangled blog.

Here's how I used the mini set:

Warm Wishes

I'm one of those people who doesn't hesitate to cut up stamps. So, I cut apart the Warm Wishes  sentiment and mug, and I only used the sentiment as a frame. I love this set, and I'm going to use it for more holiday cards. I used a cute Crate Paper Bundled Up die-cut in the center, but I love how the sentiment is a great frame for many elements.

I embossed and added a Crystal Clear sequin and some die-cuts. Here's a close-up:

Warm Wishes

There's a giveaway! Comment on the Neat & Tangled blog to win the Warm Wishes set.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great day!

Happy Holidays!

Hi everyone!

It's day two of Release Week at Neat & Tangled! Today, we're sharing projects using the Little Santa Girl stamp set. She's so cute! Danielle is sharing pictures of the stamps on the Neat & Tangled blog, so be sure to check it out.

I used the mini set for a tag:

Happy Holidays Tag

Do you ever have those projects where you start creating but have no plan in mind? Yep, this tag was one of those projects. I started by coloring the Little Santa Girl with Copics, but I felt like she needed an oomph. So, I paper-pieced her hat and tights and used colored pencils to add shading to the patterned paper.

At first, she was going to be standing, and then I was going to have two girls coming from the edges. After playing around, I decided to have one girl peeking into the scene. I had to cut off her legs, which was kind of weird. But, it looked weirder to have the legs hanging off. ;)

I added some Webster's Pages All That Glitters vellum and stitching. Here's a close-up:

Happy Holidays Tag

There's a giveaway! Comment on the Neat & Tangled blog to win the Little Santa Girl set.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great day!

All Is Calm

Hi everyone! It's been a long time!

It's release week at Neat & Tangled! To kick things off, we're sharing projects using the Winter Wishes and Falling Flakes stamps sets. Danielle is sharing pictures of the stamps on the Neat & Tangled blog.

I used the Winter Wishes set for my card:

All is Calm

The houses, trees, and snowflakes are one stamp. I love the little scene! I added the smoke, star, and sentiment from the same Winter Wishes set. The large stamp would work great for mass-producing holiday cards. ;)

The panel is on cream cardstock....I wasn't sure at first with the grey and white stripe, but I like how cream and white look together. Wida suggested using Stickles to look like snow (which I oddly don't own, but she lent me hers). A little glitter is good. :)

Here's a close-up:

All is Calm

There's a giveaway! Comment on the Neat & Tangled blog to win the Winter Wishes and Falling Flakes sets.

Thanks for stopping by!

Essentials by Ellen Blog Hop

Happy World Card Making Day!

Welcome to the Essentials by Ellen Blog Hop! (Eek!) We’re so excited to unveil a brand new line of high quality Clear Stamp Sets and Designer Dies, designed by the fabulously talented Julie Ebersole exclusively for Ellen Hutson LLC. This collection reflects an eclectic mix of images, sentiments and art styles that are sure to appeal to a wide range of tastes! Just in time for holiday crafting, the entire release is available now at Ellen Hutson LLC.

All Essentials by Ellen Stamp Sets and Dies arrive in their signature packaging with a durable clear envelope and a labeled card stock backer for convenient storage and organization. The die packaging also features an attached magnetic sheet, to ensure that even the smallest of your dies is stored securely! I've got to say--I've never seen packaging like the Essentials by Ellen line--it's luxurious. :)

Want to see some projects? All of the supplies are linked at the bottom of the post.

Peace, Love, and Joy Tag

I watercolored the Laurel Wreath die and added one of the cool stars from the Home & Hearth die set. The sentiment is from Cozy Christmas--I love the funky vibe of those sentiments.

I cut down a Project Life pocket, sewed up three sides, and added a mix of sequins to make a shaker tag:

Peace, Love, and Joy Tag

Next, I used the Christmas Scribbles stamp set:

Merry Little Christmas

The sentiment is long, but I cut it down to fit on the card. See the cute little stars? This set has a ton of options.

Here's a close-up:

Merry Little Christmas

Next, I used the Brushstroke Christmas set and Prize Stag die:

Joy to the World

The stag die is very elegant. I almost used him as a mask--so many possibilities with this die. :)

I love that this set has several elements besides the sentiments. See the different stars and the black "splatter?" It looks real but I don't risk splattering over the middle of the sentiment (which I actually did in the next card--ha!).

Here's my last card:

Merry and Bright

I used the Merry and Bright stamps, the "merry" from the Merry and Bright Handwritten die, and stars from the Home & Hearth dies. The stamped star, sunbursts, holly, and sentiment are all from the stamp set. Those sunbursts are addictive. I think I'm going to be using them a lot. ;)

There are a lot of details on this card, so here's a close-up:

Merry & Bright

I have a fun giveaway for you! The new Brushstroke Christmas stamp set will go to one lucky winner! Please leave a comment here by October 8th; winners will be announced October 9th.

The fun all starts at the CLASSroom, where there is a GIANT prize package being given away—be sure to leave a comment there by October 8th; winners will be announced October 9th!
