Celebrating 5 years with Paper Smooches (and a Giveaway)!

Hi everyone! It's been a while, but today I'm excited and honored to be hopping along with some Paper Smooches guests for a special blog hop. :)

Paper Smooches in celebrating their 5th Anniversary this month! Woo hoo! I'm so happy for Kim! She is such a sweet and thoughtful person, and I know she's worked hard to make Paper Smooches a fab company. :)

Please hop on over to these fabulous designers blogs to see their Paper Smooches creations…and see what you could win!

Today I am using one of the NEW products released this month--the new Wine Glass Die. The die rocks!

You Had My at Merlot

He is having a mighty big glass of wine. :) My friend Emily gave me the idea to use one of the Paper Smooches people with the Wine Glass die, and the chemist from the Great Chemistry set works perfectly with this die. I'm not sure if Kim designed the glass die that way, but they seem like they are made for each other. ha ha

I Copic-colored the kind of like Professor Plum instead of a chemist, and then die-cut him using the Great Chem Icon dies. I trimmed his thumb to add dimension around the glass:

You Had My at Merlot

The background is embossed using the PS Squared die. I added a punny sentiment from the Free Spirits set.

For the wine glass die, I created a shaker with two acetate windows. There is a mix of matte and sparkly sequins in different shades of red. Here's a close-up:

Here's how I used the Mustaches die:

Father's Day

I made a Father's Day card and treat jar. First, I started with a simple card. I die-cut the Mustaches dies out of new Treasure Map papers. They make me chuckle. :) The stamp is from the Daddy Yo stamp set, which will be released in May.

Here's a close-up:

Father's Day

I used the dies for a treat container, too:

Mustaches

I layered the Treasure Map papers and on the map paper, I stamped the "DAD" sentiment from the Daddy Yo set. For the top, I added some photo prop mustaches. My kids are going to go nuts with these! They were already playing with some of the leftover die cuts. My daughter is having a detective party in a few weeks, and she's already asked me to make some mustaches for the party to use for mug shots. ;)

On the rosettes, I used the Pinked Circles dies. Here's a close-up:

Mustaches

Thanks for stopping by! Next up is my sweet and very talented friend Kalyn!

...And Taking Names

Hi everyone!

wed-designerspotlight-header

I'm the guest designer for the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge for June! I'm excited to be participating for the next few weeks. :)

wed-newchallenge-header

The first challenge for June is Father's Day/Male. The DT is also using Ranger products, although that's not required to participate.

Here's my project:

You Kick...

I stamped the Big Top image on my Ranger Distress Watercolor paper (love that stuff!). I watercolored him with Distress Markers. For the sentiment, I used Kelly Purkey's Merci set. It makes me laugh. ;)

Here's a close-up:

You Kick...

I sewed a wonky border under the sentiment just because. ;)  The color inspiration came from the Boys Rule papers.

Want to play along? One random participant will win a $50 gift certificate to Simon Says Stamp! Sweet!

Hey Good Lookin'

Hi everyone! I hope your week is going great!

It's One Buck Wednesday at Jessica Sprague, and there are two Glitz Design digital kits on sale--Dapper Dan Paper Pack and Element Pack #1.

I made a card that was a little different for me:

I'm not sure if I love it or hate it, but I'm glad I tried a new technique (for me).

I started by dragging mists in the background like Corrie Jones did in THIS video. I took four different colors of mist and loosely dragged them in a circle. The inks ran together a little, which was really cool looking!

The background below wasn't what I used on the card, but it gives you an idea of what the dragging mist looked like before I added the layers:

For the clustering, I printed different elements and papers out of the Dapper Dan collection. The bow tie under the man's chin is a digital brush. For the plaid, I printed the paper on vellum for a different look. Here's a close-up:

So what's the last new technique that you did? How did it turn out?

One final plug for the Dapper Dan collection--you can buy it HERE. It's on sale for today only. :)

Have a great rest of the week! Thanks for stopping by!

Prehistoric Pals

Hi everyone! It's release week for Newton's Nook Designs' August stamps.

We're sharing two stamp sets this week, and the stamps will be available for sale on Friday. You can check out the full stamp reveal on the Newton's Nook blog.

I'm actually using both of the new sets today, although I'm featuring the Prehistoric Pals set on this birthday card:

Hee hee. That dinosaur cracks me up every time! I colored and fussy cut the dinosaur and snipped between his hands to hold the present. The present is from the set I'll be featuring tomorrow. ;)

The "BIG wishes" is from the Prehistoric Pals set. I masked off the sentiment and added the word "birthday" from the Winged Wishes set. Here's a close-up:

Giveaway alert! Would you like to win Prehistoric Pals? This set will be given away to two lucky winners! Here's how to win:

You're Super!

Hi everyone! I hope you had a great weekend. We've had family in town since last week, and it's been (a good kind of) busy. :)

It's time for another Paper Smooches SPARKS Designer Drafts challenge. Here's the sketch for this week:

I was happy I got my new Paper Smooches stamps so quickly and was able to use them right away:

Hee hee. I love that Superman guy. The superhero and skyline are from the new Super set--love him and love that set!

For the background, I misted the black panel with white and silver mists. Then, I embossed the skyline, fussy cut it, and popped it up with foam tape. The sentiment is from the Market Fresh set. Here's a close-up:

I mounted the panels on some cool blue metallic paper that appeared in my stash. I have no idea where it came from, but it worked well for this project.

Please check out my teammates' cards, too:

If you would like to play along with this week's challenge, you can link up your projects HERE. I hope you'll play along!
